It goes without saying that San Francisco's history is astounding. From the Mexican Rule to the dazzling Gold Rush followed by the crumbling Earthquake on to the rising Counterculture and now the bursting advancements in Technology. In just the 10 years that I've been here, it feels as though countless things have happened. Because of that, I wanted to take a few moments and dig up some old photos from the digital archives of The Met and pay homage to those that came before us - while also highlighting some of my favorite landmarks.
I wanted these digital collages to have a similar look and feel to my series done by hand - see here. To do so, I printed off the photos and combined them with paper textures then scanned them again. Following that, I adjusted the typeface, added halftone textures to digital graphics and scanned in paint splatter textures.
